Each of our students are assigned a local church where they serve each week in teaching, preaching, witnessing and evangelism. We are grateful for their work and dedication. This September & October report is typical of the work they do:
Professions of faith in September 2021 – 147
Professions of faith in October 2021 – 159
Baptisms – 27

Covid-19 is really affecting our friends, students and church members here the Philippines.  Almost everyone we know has at least had the virus and we know many who have died. Our Tuesday Bible Study group has only met once this month.  The issue here is most Philippines cannot afford treatment and refuse to go to the hospital.  Of the people in this photo at least nine have had co-vid or have quarantined due to exposure.

One thing we never see around our neighborhood are rats.
Hmmmm, We wonder why? Donna took this picture of the Philippine Monitor lizard crossing the road on the way to our house. We think they love rats.

To celebrate our hard work achieving accreditation our college staff was treated to a celebration luncheon.

Doug & Diane Lee and I were honored to be part in the commissioning of eleven of our BMA pastors as
Pearl of the Orient Leaders and Educators Chaplains

Nothing excites missionaries more than baptisms.
Here are some from this month.

DON’T BUILD YOUR HOUSE ON THE SAND – BUT USE IT TO MAKE CONCRETE

Loading sand from the river for building materials. Our Mandalag Mission is building.

So, about once a week Missionary Joab uses my truck to haul sand from the river to make concrete.

This is Jeffrey, one of our music students.  Like all music guys he is a tough ole bird.

Help us build a room in memory or in honor of a loved one. Each room cost $10,000 to build.

Unfortunately the monsoon season and covid-19 restrictions have curtailed progress on our building project, but we have been able to enroll students for 2021. We are working hard to get the roof on by Christmas.

Our Darlene Christian Academy first year pre-school students.

October has been busy. Helping folks deal with cov-19, getting the Academy up and running, baptisms, mid-terms, church and mission visits, Chaplains commissioning, CHED approval celebration and finishing up with the BMA of the Philippines association meeting. We were glad to host our pastors and churches for the event. Although we could not host over-night sleeping due to co-vid protocols, we did provide meals and gift bags to all pastors in attendance.

Our students are so loving to us. For National Teachers Day they presented us with gifts (Pictures above). We’ve had some serious monsoon weather.  It has rained almost constantly. Two things Filipinos hate: The sun beating down on them making them darker and the rain falling on their heads. They always have something, a leaf, an umbrella, a piece of cardboard, or simply a rag, to cover their head with.

Our work is completely focused on making sure the Gospel is taught in our weekly home Bible study, the sending of the Gospel to Southeast Asian countries, the training of pastors and missionaries at the Bible College and church planting in the Philippines and  all over Southeast Asia.  Would you help us?  $1,000.00 a year goes a long way here, helping us train church planters, send missionaries and train students.  Click on the donate button below, locate the Scroggins/Philippine fund and prayerfully consider contributing to help us. We love you all.
