When I was a little 7 year old boy I knew of the WMA as “those ladies who brought cookies to our Sunbeam group on Sunday nights.” As a local church minister for over 42 years I knew the WMA as “the go to mission group in our church”. The old saying in local churches was “if you need something done – call the WMA.” As a missionary in the Philippines I know them as “dream fulfillers!” In 2020 when the Darlene Care Christian Academy was first selected as the new WMA project we knew this would be the help we needed to get our “dream” off the ground. THEN…., well then Co-vid – and our project needed to be postponed. It was the right thing to do, but it made our dreams diminished just a little. “But God”, as Diane Spriggs always used to said. Never underestimate the WMA! And I am talking church WMAs, local association WMA’s, state WMA’s and of course our national WMA. At the close of this year’s books over $57,000.00 will have been raised for the Darlene Carey Christian Academy, making the project completely paid for and a dream fulfilled. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() When we needed help getting four of our college teachers trained with an accredited master’s degree – in stepped the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary to help us. What began as a project directed at four possible students has grown to 15. Now we will welcome Dr. Philip Attebery, Academic Dean at the BMAA Seminary, in May and Dr. Thom South, Professor at the BMAA Seminary, in July to help these students finish their master’s degrees. It is going to be a busy Summer. ![]() Dr. Philip Atttebery ![]() Dr. THOM SOUTH ![]() Our new master’s level students – pray for us and if you’re are blessed to help us with needed books and professor travel you can give directly to The Scroggins Work Fund at BMAA Missions. ![]() These fifteen weekly Bible students are not working on degrees but their understanding of the loving God who reveals Himself to us in His Word the Bible. ANOTHER DELAYED TRAVEL TO LEYTE ![]() ![]() It is the Dry Season, but recent flooding due to “unseasonal rains” caused land slides and prevented us from traveling to Leyte. This is the second delay. First was Typhoon Odette and now landslides which covered roads to the mountains and killed over 100 people. Because of co-vid it has been a long time since we’ve had any visitors. So, there will be lots of trial and error for these first to visit after the pandemic. Guess what? We got word that our new visas and i-cards have been approved. So any day we will have our passports back. This means we can now travel again and even travel out of the country. Stan is planning to visit our missionaries in Japan and I am hoping to travel home to check in on our family, house, and love on our kids and grandkids. YEA!
